Dr. Fien Verdoodt graduated as a veterinarian from Ghent University in July 2020. During her subsequent doctoral research, supervised by Prof. Myriam Hesta, Dr. Sofie Bhatti, and Dr. Lieselot Hemeryck, she examined more than 100 dogs with idiopathic epilepsy as part of various studies, combined with sample and data analysis. On June 20, 2025, she defended her doctoral thesis entitled “An omics approach for canine idiopathic epilepsy: from brain to bottom.” Since then, she has been working as a postdoctoral researcher within the Clinical Animal Nutrition Team (Ghent University).
